Get to Know Me
My work is inspired by a happy upbringing in the beautiful British Countryside. From picking veg from our family patch; to naming the type of birds on the feeder; to spotting the flash of a fox in the distance! All of these small joys in life continue to influence my art.
Rose of Stitching was formed from a unique love of embroidery. Learning to sew aged 11, from day one I was hooked - every spare evening, weekend and summer holiday was spent at my grannies old sewing machine creating. It wasn't long before I discovered free machine embroidery, allowing me to draw with stitch. Over the years I have developed my own process and style: first, hand drawing and painting the artwork before stitching layers and layers of detail with a variety of coloured threads to create a uniquely tactile surface.
I am running my business while also attending Loughborough University studying Textiles: Innovation and Design where I specialise in Print. I have just completed a fantastic Placement Year working for Nutmeg (Morrisons clothing brand) as a Print designer for both kids and womenswear. I am now heading into my Final Year (September 2020).
I hope you enjoy exploring my creative space!
